Your voice will work when you work it

Let’s talk about how your voice can work for you. Your voice will work when you work it to your advantage, not just for other people. For many years, I didn't really put myself first. I wanted to please people at my church, my job, my family...What I know now is that putting yourself first doesn't mean you're neglecting other parts of your life. It simply means taking care of YOU before you can be anything to anyone else. And not paying attention to the naysayers, because that makes you stuck.

If you want to build something, by all means, build it starting now. If you want to create something based on that idea God gave you, start right now on one platform and be yourself. You will learn a lot in the process.

When you start putting yourself first and stop being concerned about what anybody else says, things change. There have been too many times when I allowed not showing up for myself incapacitate and inhibit me from doing what God said. When I did that, I stayed in the same position and didn't move. That was me for a long time, year after year, but not anymore. Besides God, I am numero uno. I put myself first, period.

Isaiah 41:10 says: “Do not fear, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you.” If God has already said what He is going to do, why aren’t we listening to Him? We have to show up for ourselves. When we do that, it is a game changer. Are you willing to show up? Are you willing to act on that idea? Are you willing to put yourself first? As I said, that doesn’t mean overlooking your responsibilities or your family. It simply means going for it because you have something in your heart you want to say and do.

Don’t let people who have kept you down for so long -- some intentionally and some unintentionally, stop you from doing what you want to do and pursuing that thing you love. Even if people think it’s corny, it’s not corny if God put it in you. Even if people think, “Oh, everybody is doing that,” you’re not doing it. You’re the only person with your DNA who God created to do that thing.

Try something. Do something. Make your voice work for you. You won’t know if you don’t try. And when you start, do it consistently for a period of time. You can’t do it for only a few months and then say it doesn’t work. Do it even if you’re afraid, if you're a little anxious or experiencing anxiety. Even though those feelings are real, remember what the Lord said: “Do not fear.”

And also remember that God is still with you and I. He will never forsake us, but we still have to move (faith with works is alive). Jesus will ensure we have everything we need to do that thing in our heart no matter what. It's your time to start right where you are.

If you need help getting started or simply starting again, I can meet with you each month to go to the next level with my 1:1 monthly coaching.
